Real Madrid’s teenage sensation Alvaro Rodriguez has received glowing praise from manager Carlo Ancelotti, according to the striker’s agent Alejandro Camano.
The 18-year-old Uruguayan frontman signed for Los Blancos’ youth academy from Girona in 2020. After shining at the youth levels and for the reserve side Castilla, Rodriguez earned his first-team break this campaign and grasped it with both hands.
In six senior appearances, Rodriguez has scored and set up a goal each, dazzling whenever he takes to the pitch.
Speaking on Uruguayan radio, Camano said Ancelotti sees Rodriguez as the natural replacement for captain Karim Benzema if the French hitman is unavailable.
“The clubs have their intentions. Ancelotti considers Álvaro a natural replacement when something happens to Benzema,” Camano said.
While Rodriguez’s minutes have been limited, Camano said featuring for the reigning La Liga champions and on the international stage for Uruguay’s Under-20s at just 18 was invaluable experience.
“He arrived from the South American Championship, made his debut, scored a goal, made assists…,” Camano added.

Ancelotti has heaped praise on the lethal frontman, who has netted ten goals in 37 matches for Castilla. Despite rumors Real want to sign a new striker, Rodriguez is expected to join the first team next season.
Rodriguez missed recent matches with a minor hamstring tear but will soon return to training, his agent confirmed.
The sky seems the limit for this prodigious young talent, with a bright future ahead at the Bernabeu. Rodriguez has shown in glimpses his potential to reach the pinnacle of the game.
