Real Madrid have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo this summer.
According to Defensa Central, the La Liga giants could acquire the Portuguese full-back, currently on loan at Bayern Munich, when the transfer window reopens.
The 28-year-old Cancelo has flourished during his loan spell at the Allianz Arena, cementing his place as a key component of the Bavarian club’s backline. In 19 appearances across all competitions, the attack-minded right-back has netted once and provided six assists.
His average of 1.7 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 0.9 key passes per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga illustrates his potency at both ends of the pitch.
With a pass completion rate of 85.6% in league matches, Cancelo has also demonstrated his ability to effectively circulate possession.
Although Cancelo’s contract at Manchester City runs until 2027, Real Madrid could sign him for a reduced fee given his uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium.
The Portuguese star’s strengths, including his combativeness, distribution and dribbling skills, would significantly boost Los Blancos’ squad, providing an ideal long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
