Real Madrid Plot Summer Move for Former Striker Joselu

In a shocking twist following their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League semi-finals, Real Madrid are keen to sign a new striker to provide much-needed support and competition for the misfiring Karim Benzema.

According to reports from journalists Alfredo Matilla and Rodra P, Los Blancos have set their sights on bringing former striker Joselu back to the Bernabeu.

The 33-year-old currently plies his trade for Espanyol but has endured a difficult season as the club stares relegation in the face.

Despite this, Joselu has managed to find the net 15 times in La Liga, proving his predatory instincts in front of goal have not left him.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has made no secret of his desire to secure a new No. 9 this summer and sees the veteran Joselu as an ideal candidate.

Strong, skilled in the air and adept at holding up play, the Spaniard appears to tick all the boxes for Ancelotti.

Joselu rose through the youth ranks at Real Madrid, scoring 40 goals in 73 appearances for Castilla between 2009 and 2012.

However, he only managed two senior outings for Los Blancos in which he found the net on both occasions.

Since then, the nomadic striker has turned out for the likes of Hoffenheim, Frankfurt, Hannover, Stoke City, Deportivo, Newcastle and Alaves before joining Espanyol last season.

Despite having two years left on his current deal, Joselu could be available for a cut-price fee, especially if Espanyol face the drop.

Real Madrid are seriously considering bringing their former frontman back to the Bernabeu to ease the goalscoring burden on the faltering Benzema.

Only time will tell if a romantic return to the Spanish capital is on the cards for the much-travelled Joselu.
