Marco Verratti, the world-class Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, has reportedly decided that it’s time for a new challenge and set his sights on Spanish giants Real Madrid.
According to French sports daily L’Equipe, as reported by Madrid Xtra, the 30-year-old Italian international believes Los Blancos would be the ideal next chapter in his illustrious career and has already reached out to Real manager Carlo Ancelotti to express his desire for a move to the Bernabeu.
After over a decade of loyal service and more than 400 appearances for PSG, Verratti has cemented his status as a club legend in Paris.
However, recent rumblings suggest his long-term future at the Parc des Princes is unclear, and it seems he has chosen the allure of Real Madrid as his preferred escape route should he bid farewell to the French capital this summer.

While Real are poised to secure the signature of highly-rated Borussia Dortmund teenager Jude Bellingham, the midfield department still requires reinforcement.
Club stalwarts Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are in the twilight of their careers, and Dani Ceballos looks set to leave on a free transfer.
Although Verratti does not fit the typical profile of Real’s transfer targets, given they usually pursue players with their best years ahead of them, the Azzurri star is desperate to move to Madrid.

How Real will respond to Verratti’s apparent come-and-get-me plea remains to be seen. The midfielder has made no secret of the fact that should PSG grant him a move away, the Bernabeu would be his dream destination.
This summer could prove pivotal in determining whether Verratti’s wish is fulfilled or if he remains in Paris for the foreseeable future.
One thing is for certain, though – the midfielder has signalled his intent, and the ball is now very much in Real and PSG’s court.
