After 10 loyal years with Paris Saint-Germain, Marco Verratti is rumored to be seeking a fresh challenge away from the Parc des Princes.
The midfield maestro was reportedly keen on joining Spanish giants Real Madrid last summer but a move never materialized. However, according to French publication L’Equipe, Verratti’s dream of playing for Los Blancos may still be alive.
Legendary coach Carlo Ancelotti, who brought Verratti to PSG in 2012, is said to be pushing for a reunion with the Italian star in Madrid next season should he remain at the helm.
With over 400 appearances for the Parisians, the 30-year-old Verratti would bring a wealth of experience and talent to Real Madrid’s midfield.
Although Madrid are poised to extend the contracts of midfield anchors Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, the addition of Verratti would provide much-needed depth and versatility.
The Italian playmaker could use his experience to guide Madrid’s young midfield prospects like Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
However, Madrid and PSG share a tumultuous relationship which could complicate negotiations for the midfield maestro.
Verratti has been a mainstay in the PSG lineup for the past decade, but it seems the Italian international is ready to pursue a new challenge.
Marco Verratti Tempted by Real Madrid’s Allure
A move to the Spanish capital would mark a major turning point in Verratti’s career and open a new chapter filled with opportunities for success.
If Ancelotti remains at the helm, a rekindling of their partnership could propel Real Madrid to greater heights next season.
However, PSG are unlikely to part ways with such an influential player easily. Only time will tell if Verratti will bid farewell to Parc des Princes for the grandeur of the Bernabeu.
