Promising Real Madrid Prodigy Seeks New Club Amid Lack of Playing Time

Paulo Iago, a 16-year-old prodigy from Real Madrid’s academy, is reportedly seeking a new club after feeling unsupported by his current team according to journalist Manu Amor.

Despite being hailed as a future star and having his contract renewed until 2025, Iago has been left disappointed by his lack of playing time in crucial matches, such as the Youth League quarter-final and a vital league game against Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid now faces a critical decision as the final year of Iago’s contract approaches. The club must choose whether to retain him for another season or allow him to depart in July. The absence of an offer to extend his contract has further complicated the situation.

Iago’s talents have not gone unnoticed, with several top European clubs expressing interest in securing his services. This widespread recognition ensures that he will have numerous options to consider for his future, should he decide to leave Real Madrid.

Paulo Iago seeks new club

Since joining La Fábrica in 2014, Iago has developed his skills within an environment that emphasises technical, tactical, and personal growth. As an attacking midfielder or winger with a left-footed preference, he has drawn comparisons to players like Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva. His strengths include dribbling, ball control, technique, and creativity, along with an impressive football IQ and off-the-ball movement.

During the 2022-23 season, Iago made a significant impact for Real Madrid’s Juvenil B team, contributing 12 goals and 11 assists in 23 appearances. This earned him a promotion to the Juvenil A side for the following season. However, the lack of substantial playing time under coach Alvaro Arbeloa has led to his current predicament.
