6 Potential Real Madrid Signings of Summer 2023

Real Madrid has had an awkward season so far. While the club has enjoyed a dream Champions League campaign, they have struggled in La Liga despite a strong start.

Given this, Los Blancos will likely look to strengthen their squad next season by signing players to improve some positions or provide backup.

Potential Real Madrid Signings of Summer 2023

Without further ado, here are some potential summer 2023 signings for Real Madrid:

Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham easily tops Real Madrid’s wishlist. With neither Erling Haaland nor Kylian Mbappe available this summer, the current Dortmund starlet is the top talent on the market for Los Blancos.

Now, Real Madrid don’t really need another midfielder since it’s already their strongest area. However, Bellingham is a special talent.

He impacts all areas of play, recently scoring a beauty to open the scoring in Dortmund’s 4-0 rout of Eintracht Frankfurt to reclaim first place in the Bundesliga.

Bellingham’s work rate, ball progression, and leadership make him worth well over €100 million.

Over the years, Real Madrid have rarely spent big. They can easily afford to sign Bellingham and lock down one of the world’s best for the next decade.

The only question is, will he want to join their crowded midfield over Pep Guardiola’s project at Manchester City? Reuniting with Haaland could sweeten the deal, but we all know the allure of playing for Real Madrid.

Reece James

Real Madrid wants to sign Reece James

According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid may bid for James this summer if Chelsea needs to offload players due to a bloated squad.

The potential move makes sense. Despite his injury history, Reece James remains an outstanding talent. Going up against Vinicius is a monumental task for any defender, and no one has truly stopped the Brazilian this season.

While James recently signed a new deal, as a young player in a huge squad, he may question his place at the club. If he feels limited or overshadowed, the chance to start fresh at a club like Real Madrid could tempt him.

Dušan Vlahović

Real Madrid target Dusan Vlahovic

He’s having a poor season with Juventus, but that could make him an excellent buy-low option if he takes a page from Matthijs de Ligt’s book. Like de Ligt, Vlahović is a world-class youngster who could star for Juve for years to come.

However, with Juventus playing dire football and treading water as a club, Vlahović may seek a more stable environment. Based on Bayern Munich’s recent sacking of Julian Nagelsmann, that stable environment is Real Madrid.

While Haaland is the ideal long-term target and likely why Real Madrid never seriously chased Vlahović at Fiorentina, actually signing the Norwegian seems impossible anytime soon.

Vlahović is a very talented, well-rounded striker. At a more attacking club, he could rediscover his scoring form from Florence, where he bagged 17 in 21 before his ill-fated move to Turin.

Samuel Chukwueze

Real Madrid eyeing Samuel Chukwueze

Previously linked with Premier League sides like Aston Villa and Arsenal, Chukwueze would likely jump at the chance to join Real Madrid given their prestige. However, his €80 million release clause could scupper any deal.

Having joined Villarreal for a mere €500k in 2018, Chukwueze has proven a bargain. While Villarreal reportedly will sell for €75-80 million, the huge fee may deter suitors.

Still, Chukwueze’s 13 goals and 11 assists this season have been crucial to Villarreal’s Champions League push. After a stellar showing against Juventus, Villarreal’s official Twitter said: “We won’t ever forget his performance today.”

Alphonso Davies

Real Madrid have struggled to replace club legend Marcelo, but Davies could be the solution at left back. At just 22, Davies would be a smart investment in the future.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid have closely watched Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, with the 22-year-old Canadian emerging as a top target.

While Mendy has performed well since joining, he has faced criticism over inconsistent play and unfulfilled potential. This has seen Real Madrid explore other left back options, with Davies an ideal long-term choice.

Dani Olmo

Dani Olmo

Olmo began at Barcelona’s La Masia academy before moving to Dinamo Zagreb and RB Leipzig in January 2020. Since joining Leipzig, the 24-year-old Spaniard has cemented his status as one of Europe’s most in-demand players.

Real Madrid see Olmo as a perfect fit, as he can play across the frontline or midfield. With his contract expiring in 2024, Real Madrid believes they can sign him for a fair price.

Early talks have happened, and it remains to be seen how things progress. Real Madrid can either sign him this summer or get him for free in 2024.

Final Note

While Real Madrid likely don’t need wholesale changes, some astute signings could help them reclaim La Liga and retain European glory next season.

Targeting young or underperforming talents that suit their style and fixing obvious weak points would be savvy moves. Of course, landing Haaland remains the dream, but the Norwegian’s future seems tied to Manchester for now.

So there you have it. The 6 potential Real Madrid 2023 summer signings.
