Real Madrid to Offload Misfit Forward in Summer Transfer Window

It looks like Eden Hazard’s unhappy stint at Real Madrid is coming to an end. According to Fichajes, the La Liga giants are ready to cut their losses and offload the 32-year-old Belgian in the upcoming transfer window.

Once considered one of the world’s best attackers, Eden Hazard has endured a nightmare four seasons at the Bernabeu.

His dream move to Real Madrid in 2019 for a club record €150 million has turned sour, with injuries and poor form limiting him to just 75 appearances and a meagre 12 assists.

His value has plummeted to a mere €5 million, a sad indicator of how far he has fallen.

This season, new manager Carlo Ancelotti has given Hazard few opportunities, starting him in just three of 49 games. It’s clear the misfit forward has no future at the club.

While Hazard was once a key part of Belgium’s golden generation, he has struggled for motivation sitting on the sidelines in Madrid. A summer exit now appears inevitable for all parties.

Interest in Hazard has been limited, given his astronomical wages and lack of playing time. However, his former manager Vincent Kompany is reportedly keen for a reunion at Burnley. Some Turkish clubs have also enquired about the winger.

For Hazard, leaving Real Madrid is surely a must. Rarely featuring can’t have been good for his confidence or mental state.

The once exuberant winger has seemed a shadow of his former self this season. A move to pastures new might just reinvigorate his stagnating career.

All in all, Hazard’s time in Madrid will go down as one of the most disappointing big-money transfers in memory. But for a player of his natural talent, it may still not be too late to rediscover his best form elsewhere.

Real Madrid will likely be happy just to recoup some of their substantial investment when the sorry saga finally comes to an end this summer.
