Sergio Arribas, a prodigious 21-year-old footballer, looks poised to leave the hallowed halls of Real Madrid, either temporarily on loan or permanently with a buyback clause.
The attacking midfielder has been in blistering form for Real Madrid Castilla, Los Blancos’ reserve team, over the past two campaigns, bagging 15 goals and seven assists in 31 league matches this season to propel their promotion push.
Arribas has also dazzled for Carlo Ancelotti’s senior side this term, scoring in their FIFA Club World Cup semi-final victory over Al Ahly.
Madrid were rumoured to be mulling over promoting the talented starlet to their first team next season. However, with Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric all set to renew their contracts and Brahim Diaz likely to return from his loan at AC Milan, opportunities for the 21-year-old may prove scarce.
As such, Madrid could opt to loan Arribas or sell him while reserving the right to re-sign him, a ploy they have employed with several other promising youngsters.
Sergio Arribas Could Leave for Loan or Transfer
Girona, a La Liga rival, are reported to be interested in Arribas, who has been tipped for greatness by Madrid insiders. Arribas’ future remains unclear but it appears this prodigy’s time in the Spanish capital could be cut short, at least temporarily.
The versatile playmaker has showcased his immense potential and penchant for goals this campaign. However, he risks being starved of the game time required to continue his meteoric rise to prominence at the Bernabeu.
A move away from the defending La Liga champions, if only temporarily, may be the best course of action for this prolific talent to fulfil his destiny as one of Spain’s footballing stars of the future.
